Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I keep hearing about your fabulous cupcakes and must find out for myself what all the fuss is about. Where exactly are you?
A: Well, we don't actually have a retail storefront (yet!), but we use the kitchen at Acme in downtown Carrboro during off hours. You may pick up your orders there (placed in advance) by appointment. Just knock on the door and mention Cakewalk....it's kind of like a speakeasy!
Q: So, I see that you prefer two days' notice, but I need a cake ASAP! Can you make an exception?
A: It's true that we do prefer you to place your orders at least two days in advance, but we're also pretty flexible. Give us a call and we'll try our best to accommodate you.
Q: Do you do mail order?
A: No, but we do offer delivery service anywhere in the Triangle for a flat fee of $6.00.
Q: Okay, I'd like to order a dozen cupcakes, but I can't decide which flavor. Could you just give me an assortment?
A: This is a toughie. We love that you want to try several of our flavors. However, since we make all the batters and frostings from scratch - to order, in small batches - we must insist that if you're ordering a dozen cupcakes, it be all one flavor. Of course, you can order as many different dozens as you like.... We suggest that you get your friends or co-workers to pitch in!
Q: What's the best way to store my cupcakes?
A: Good question. Since our products are made with all natural ingredients, like real butter, cream cheese, and eggs, it's best if you eat them the day they are made. But we realize this isn't always an option. You can store them in the fridge in their original container (or a different airtight container) for up to 2 days. Keep in mind that baked goods taste best at room temperature. So take them out of the fridge about 30 minutes prior to serving time and they should be perfect!
Q: Do your baked goods contain dairy/wheat/nuts/etc.?
A: Yes, our standard recipes do include ingredients such as eggs, butter, wheat flour, etc. If you would like us to prepare something that is allergen-free, please ask. We'll do our best to make it happen. However, please note that our products are made in a kitchen that uses these ingredients on a regular basis, so they are not recommended for those of you with severe food allergies.
Q: I need a full-size cake that will serve at least 30 people. What do you suggest?
A: Right now, the largest size cake we offer is 10", which will serve about 20 people. If you would like there to be enough cake for a larger crowd, we suggest cupcakes. This way, you can ensure that everyone gets the same amount - no guessing, no fuss. We'll work with you to create an assortment which will suit the occasion to a tee!
Q: Do you do wedding cakes?
A: Yes! We would love to work with you to create something special for your big day -- whether it be a traditional tiered cake or a fun, multi-flavored tower of cupcakes. Contact us at (919) 260-9416 or cakewalkcarrboro@hotmail.com for details.
